Logan Park Artificial Turf Development, Dunedin
EDR was engaged to deliver the Logan Park Artificial Turf development, constructing two world-class synthetic football and rugby pitches along with associated civil infrastructure. On completion, the facility achieved certification from FIFA and World Rugby (one pitch). The project began in October 2018 and was successfully completed in February 2019, providing Dunedin with a premier sporting facility.
Scope of works
The project involved a wide range of civil construction and infrastructure tasks, including:

Preliminary & General - Site establishment and disestablishment, supervision and safety measures, coordination with service providers, insurances, temporary site entry and set-out with as-built documentation

Earthworks & Demolition - Strip and dispose of topsoil, complete cut-to-waste and imported fill, prepare and proof-roll subgrade and remove existing drainage and irrigation

Pavement Construction - Installation of geotextile and construction of sub-base, basecourse and blinding layers with testing and inspections to establish the pavement structure for the new turf

Drainage - Supply and installation of main and subsoil drainage systems, manholes, sumps and connections to Council standards including reinstatement and provisional works

Concrete & Kerbing Works - Construction of perimeter kerbing, footpaths, reinforced slabs and vehicular access ways with all required base preparation

Disestablishment & Reinstatement - Reinstatement of topsoil and grass surrounding the works with maintenance until grass was fully established
Project Outcome
The Logan Park project showcases EDR’s capability to deliver complex, large-scale sporting facilities to international standards. Through precise construction methods, efficient project management and collaboration with stakeholders, EDR delivered a facility that now serves as a hub for football and rugby in Dunedin.
