SPORTS FIELD CONSTRUCTION

EDR has invested heavily into the latest GPS technology to ensure we continue to move forward with the knowledge and technical skill required to achieve 'to desgin' finishes in our sports field platforms.  We are the nationally preferred construction client of Polytan (NZ) Ltd, who are international artificial turf design and build specialists.

We have completed many high profile projects throughout the South Island of New Zealand.

Queenstown - Event Centre Artificial Turf

Scope of Contract
 

Queenstown Events Centre (QEC) is the main hub for sport and recreation in Queenstown. The QEC is home to Alpine Aqualand, Alpine Health and Fitness, Rockatipu Climbing Wall, numerous outdoor sporting fields and facilities, and is adjacent to Frankton Golf Centre and Golf Course.
 

The QEC is subject to a detailed masterplanning process in the coming years, with the aim to improve and expand the districts sports offerings. The first project implemented was the artificial multi-purpose sports turf, with the intended use for Hockey and Futsal.

Construction

The Work involved the construction of all work associated with the build for the artificial turf, including:

  • Site clearance and earthworks

  • Pavement and drainage

  • FIH Certification

  • Fencing and gates

  • Lighting and electrical infrastructure

  • Players dugouts and umpires box

  • Landscaping

  • Water supply

  • Stormwater

  • Pedestrian footpaths

  • Park furniture

Ngā Puna Wai Sports Hub - Christchurch

Scope of Contract
 

A major sports hub development located in Wigram, Christchurch.  Contracted by Polytan (NZ) Ltd for the construction of (Global Standard): 1x IIAF Certified Athletics Track and warm up facilities, 2x FIH Approved Hockey Pitches and 12x Tennis Courts.

Due to the large-scale development of this project, there were many contractors on site. Weekly site meetings with the Principal and Head Contractors were attended where programming, quality and health & safety procedures were discussed and implemented.  Good project management and communication was key to the success of this project.

Athletics Track

  • Bulk earthworks in preparation for athletics track pavement for main track and warm up area

  • All underground drainage infrastructure for main track and warm up area

  • Installation of electrical conduits and pits

  • Installation of water supply where shown including taps and toby boxes

 

Hockey Pitches

  • Bulk earthwork in preparation for hockey pitch pavement

  • Kerb preparation for all kerb types for main track and warm up area

  • Supply and installation of track pavement aggregates and preparation for asphalt for main track and warm up area

  • All underground drainage infrastructure

  • Trenching and backfill for irrigation and water supply

  • Kerb preparation for all kerb types

  • Preparation for retaining walls, bleachers, and ramps Preparation for concrete footpaths

  • Installation of electrical conduits and pits

  • Supply and installation of pitch pavement aggregates and preparation for asphalt


Tennis Courts

  • Bulk earthwork in preparation for tennis court and concourse pavement

  • All underground drainage infrastructure

  • Kerb preparation for all kerb types

  • Supply and installation of court pavement aggregates and preparation for asphalt

Logan Park - Dunedin

Scope of Contract
 

The Logan Park Artificial Turf development contract was for the construction of two synthetic football/rugby pitches and associated civil construction works. Upon completion, the facility was certified by FIFA and World Rugby (one pitch).  Works begun in Ocobter 2018 and completed in February 2019.

International Grade hockey turf, practice field and carpark located on Coldstream Road, Rangiora. Contracted by Polytan (NZ) Ltd.  2016.
